Full Tummies, Warm Hearts helps more than ever
Thank you to all our generous sponsors and volunteers for another successful Full Tummies, Warm Hearts!
Each year, individuals and teams comprised of groups from local businesses, churches, organizations and families sign up beginning in August/September to sponsor families who might not be able to afford Thanksgiving dinner.
The sponsor teams receive anonymous bios for the families they sponsor so they can customize their containers to best suit the needs of the family. Each family, referred by local schools and nonprofit organizations, receives containers filled with nonperishable food items, a gift card for perishable items, pet food (for families with pets), and other miscellaneous gifts.
On Nov. 16, 91 volunteers gathered at United Way of Williamson County’s office in Franklin to distribute all the collected containers to schools and organizations in the community, where final delivery or pickup by the recipients were then arranged.
One social worker with one of the schools described seeing the families receive their gifts and their impact.
“I see the teary eyes and hear the trembling voices that are full of emotions. I just want to let you know how appreciative and thankful I am to everyone involved in this program. Many families will spend a better thanksgiving thanks to the generosity and hard work of so many in Williamson County,” she said.
