Summer Volunteer Opportunities at United Way

Summer officially arrived on June 21, and the days are rolling by. Summer is an exciting and fast-paced season at United Way, and we need a few volunteers to help us shine bright!

Our current volunteer opportunities include (but are not limited to):

Every year, the United Way team calls and personally thanks donors for supporting the United Way mission. We’d love to have one or two upbeat, articulate volunteers to make calls on behalf of United Way team and the greater community. If you can come by during business hours to help with the donor call list, reach out to Elizabeth. She will be happy to “set” call times based on your availability.

Last year, our Stuff the Bus donation drive provided $136,000 worth of school supplies to students in our community. This year, we are striving to stuff at least 2,500 backpacks for local students. From Monday, July 22 to Saturday, July 27, Debby needs lots of volunteers to organize school supplies, assemble backpacks, and distribute backpacks to local families. Volunteers of all ages welcome. Campaign season is gearing up, and we need someone to come by the office to count and stack a bunch of pledge forms into stacks of 50. The Campaign team would love the assistance!

4) Label Books, Assemble Kits
During the first week of August, Sonya— our Education Engagement Manager— needs a volunteer (or two) to place labels on books that will be distributed to elementary students and assemble kits. Sonya manages our Raise Your Hand Tutoring Program, and she welcomes your help!
