Manager, Community Impact - Davidson County

Position Summary:
The Manager, Community Impact provides leadership for United Way by building relationships, bridges and identifying gaps to support the UWGN Community Impact work necessary to alleviate poverty, improve health and well-being and promote education in Davidson County. This position manages the grant allocation processes for Davidson County with a local committee of volunteers who will make educated and informed decisions about strong investments in each county. This position will work in times of disaster to liaison with VOAD to allocate funds and help ensure needs are being met through the community.

County Management Tasks:

  • Continually stay informed of community needs, gaps and opportunities to inform priorities for investment both within UWGN and to be shared with local allocations committee.
  • Manage the Community Impact grant allocation processes for Davidson County Responsibilities include:
    • Leading the grant application and review process for nonprofit applicants
    • Recruiting and managing the volunteer allocations committee to assist in the grant application and review process
    • Facilitating meetings with volunteers and nonprofit agencies
    • Facilitating agency funding notifications, contracting and reporting
    • Participation in strategy and planning of the Community Impact Funding and Request for Proposal process
    • Providing eCImpact technical assistance to partners
    • Communicating process outcomes and progress to supervisor
    • Conducting site visits and partner monitoring
  • Regularly engage and manage the Community Impact Committee that will serve as the volunteer review committee for local investments in both counties. This includes educating the committee on UWGN work, goals, mission and vision.
  • Support Workplace Engagement and Marketing to promote results and increase donor interest in United Way work, volunteer opportunities and investment.
    • Participate in corporate campaign events to educate donors on community needs and what United Way is doing to address those needs.
    • Provide content to share about partners and projects and share stories
    • Participate and support campaign committees at the local level to ensure they are tooled with CI work and needs.
  • Support volunteering at the local level by connecting volunteers to opportunities that will meet the needs of the community.
  • Document and track all projects, efforts, volunteers and work to adequately share the story of UWGN in each county.
  • Work in partnership with the whole Community Impact team to ensure similar practices and representation in each county.
  • Convene and lead internal County Action Team meetings to ensure collaboration, coordination and success of our work in each county.
  • Convene community partners and leaders quarterly to ensure networking, sharing and community building is taking place in each county.
  • Work with the CI Directors in Nashville to ensure investments align with what they are seeing in the community.
  • Participate in regular meetings with CI leads to ensure coordination of work.
  • Act as a liaison with VOAD during times of disaster and conduct an investment process to ensure immediate and long term needs are being met.
  • Represent UWGN on the Board for the local Emergency Food and Shelter program.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Experience:
    • Experience with nonprofits is desirable
    • Three or more years experience in the nonprofit or social services sector
  • Skills:
    • Demonstrated leadership in strategic planning, development and implementation

Data Analyst, Community Impact

Position Summary:
The Data Analyst is responsible for supporting the Community Impact department through data collection, synthesis and analysis. This position will manage UWGN’s grant management system, eCImpact. The position is responsible for analyzing data across all UWGN programs and initiatives, establishing linkages, and telling UW’s story of collaborative impact. The position is responsible for creating and maintaining a central repository for Community Impact outcome data.

  • Work with staff to streamline and facilitate data processes and collection in keeping with current outcome frameworks.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or 3 years of equivalent experience in this field
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years in a data related field
    • Experience developing and maintaining databases.
    • Experience performing data analysis, using data to tell a meaningful story.

Associate Director, Economic Mobility

Position Summary:
The Associate Director, Economic Mobility contributes to the efforts of United Way of Greater Nashville by having the vision, passion, and leadership to build economic mobility programming and services for individuals and families. The Associate Director will provide strategic leadership to the SNAP Employment & Training partnerships across the State of Tennessee. The Associate Director will represent UWGN in all facets of workforce development and job training and is integral in convening and fostering community partnerships for the advancement of economic mobility statewide.

Associate Director Tasks:

  • Manage and maintain collaborative partnerships and contractual agreements across TN to reach more individuals and families eligible for workforce development, job skills training, and education.
  • Works intentionally with the State to ensure compliance with the grant(s) and documents and records all conversations related to potential audits or other substantial communications.
  • Identifies, creates, and implements short and long-term goals and objectives with the aim of achieving successful outcomes for the programs in partnership with the community.
  • Identifies, develops, and coordinates successful approaches for marketing and outreach to secure partnerships, volunteers, and clients for all programs and services.
  • Train partners across the state and provide ongoing technical assistance to ensure compliance and successful outcomes with all subcontracts and local impact.
  • Compile reports frequently, process invoices and requests for reimbursement, and generate check requests for all programs/ grants.
  • Manage all financials, supporting documents, partner invoicing, and financials for the SNAP E&T grant.
  • Manage contractual partnerships to ensure compliance, conduct site visits, provide technical assistance and training, and provide ongoing support to partners.
  • Support and contribute to the Economic Mobility work within UWGN and across the community ensuring services are coordinated, best practices are being shared, partners are receiving necessary professional development, and policy/advocacy efforts are coordinated for the greatest impact.
  • Collaborates with the Director, Community Impact to secure additional funding for programming and ensuring UWGN is represented at all workforce and educational conversations statewide.
  • Prepares and represents the United Way during financial audits and reviews of all contracts/ grants that are being managed by this position.
  • Ensure websites and communication newsletters are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Generate mass emails and communications for SNAP E&T in coordination with marketing.
  • Keep current on the national workforce development field to further the advancement of the work across Middle Tennessee.
  • Attend UW staff functions and serve on cross-functional teams as appropriate to ensure connectivity of all work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Staff Management Tasks:

  • Provides leadership, supervision, and professional development opportunities to SNAP staff to ensure they have the tools needed to successfully perform their roles and responsibilities.
  • Develops staff through ongoing coaching to create a high-performing team.
  • Provide supervision and guidance on all compliance needs for grants.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, business, finance, or related field; or 5 years relevant experience
  • Experience:
    • Program management: 3 years (SNAP E&T preferred)
    • Staff management: 3 years

    • Grant management, including federal grants.

Coordinator, SNAP Employment and Training

Position Summary:
The SNAP Employment and Training Coordinator contributes to the efforts of United Way of Greater Nashville (UWGN) by continuing to develop and strengthen the SNAP Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) program throughout Tennessee. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the SNAP E&T program has the capabilities to support subcontractors in Tennessee, assist with expanding the program, monitor federal mandated case management database, and ensure financial reporting is accurate according to federal and state requirements.

  • Maintain professional communication with subcontractors, Department of Labor, and Department of Human Services.
  • Work independently and cross-functionally with Regional Managers.
  • Collaborates with Regional Managers with organizing and preparing SNAP E&T Interest Meetings with potential subcontractors, subcontractors, the Department of Human Services, and the Department of Labor.
  • Adheres to all guidance and regulations for SNAP E&T grant and ensures subcontractors are successfully implementing grant requirements and there is compliance with all terms and conditions.
  • Conducts monthly invoice review of all participant related expenses.
  • Collaborates with Regional Manager with SNAP E&T orientation to newly onboarded subcontractors.
  • Collaborates closely with Associate Director and Regional Managers to ensure compliance and successful implementation of SNAP E&T services Statewide.
  • Provide technical assistance to subcontractors on an ongoing basis and/or as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or HISET equivalent
  • Experience:
    • Case management (SNAP E&T preferred)
    • Working with and engaging nonprofit organizations
